Raising Allergy Awareness on Campus

Raising Allergy Awareness on Campus

As many of you already know, food allergies are serious threats that many of our students face daily.  As this video highlights, the media does not always represent these life-threatening allergies appropriately.  We have many students on our campus with food allergies, and we ask all of our families to help make sure we keep all of our Eagle Family safe.  We encourage families to pack a lunch that is free of peanuts and tree nuts. For those families who know that a student in their class has a food allergy, please be extra vigilant in what you pack for your student. Never send class-wide snacks or food that is not store-bought and labeled nut-free. Some of the allergies on our campus include Cashews, Pistachios, Walnuts, Pecans, Tree Nuts, and Shellfish.

Ever wonder what parents of students with food allergies would like us all to know? Here is a great article that helps everyone understand their worries and concerns.

Remember: Food allergies are not a choice, but what families pack in their student’s lunch box is.  We want to work together to be sure all of our Eagles are safe at school, we hope everyone joins us in that effort!
