ACES Required Summer Reading for 3rd-5th Grade Eagles

Photo of books and text "Soar into Summer Reading"

Summer reading provides students with an opportunity for recreational reading, personal exploration, and continued intellectual growth. Research has shown that students who engage in reading throughout the summer improve academically during the following school year.

ACES 3rd through 5th grade students are required to pick one book from the list and complete one activity during the summer.

Students will get a chance during the first several weeks of the new school year to present the project to their class and teacher.  This will count as a first quarter grade. Please encourage your child to complete the summer reading activity and join ACES in gearing up for the 2022-2023 school year!

Click here for the list of recommended books and selection activities that will engage and further build your child's reading skills.

*Titles have been selected with age appropriate reading level and content in mind; however, parents are encouraged to help their child make a selection by previewing the titles for difficulty of the text, subject matter, and content of the book.

Thank you for your continued support throughout the summer. Happy Reading!

If you have any questions, please contact  Ms. Pie at npietrangolare@aventuracharter.org or Ms. Melhuish amelhuish@aventuracharter.org

PLEASE NOTE: We highly recommend that families support their children's love for reading by ensuring that they are doing so. (They can use a screen break every now and then)

We did not require reading for K-2 or 6th-8th grades this year.
